Favorable conditions drive industrial improvement and entry into high-end marketsAccording to the Medical Device Industry Analysis Report 2012 issued by the Medical Device Committee, which was founded on January 11, 2013 by Medical & Pharmaceutical Commercial Association, All-China Federation of Industry & Commerce, the reliance on imported high-end medical equipment has slowly decreased in part of the domestic market while the competitiveness edge of local medical device companies is getting increasingly stronger in the high-end product market. China's medical device industry achieved RMB 68.7 billion sales in the first half of 2012, up by 20.27% year-on-year. Thanks to the interactions of internal and external drivers such as policy support, demographic change, consumption upgrade, rebalancing of resource allocation and industrial shift, it is expected that this sector will maintain an over 20% growth in China in the coming 5-10 years.
Recently, according to China Food and Drug Administration, fundamental efforts such as amending Chinese standards on medical devices are continuously strengthened. At the end of 2012, there were 1051 applicable standards in force. In 2013, the CFDA will make further efforts with regards to the standard system for medical devices and its establishment and strive to complete amendment of 105 standards in accordance with its annual plan.
Favorable news in various fields forecasts a bright and prosperous future for China's medical instruments market. Taking this advantage, the CHINA MED 2013 plays a role as a platform for new products showcase, trade and communication, and industrial opinion exchange to help companies improve their brand images, explore unknown markets and meet customer requirements for high product quality, reliability and service. As usual, CHINA MED will continue contributing to making China a leader in the high-end medical instruments and equipment sector.
